Laura de Altube is a Professional and International Choreographer, Teacher, and Tango Dancer. She is also a Producer of experimental dance pieces and films LDA (Tango Dance Theatre) Productions. She has more than 24 years working as a Professional dancer and teacher of Argentine Tango in Argentina and Internationally.

 

Laura was born in Argentina where she began her dance and Theatre studies at the age of 6 years old. After many years of dance training such as Argentine Folcklore, Afro dance, Ballet, Contemporary dance, etc. She then studied Tango in 2000 with Sebastian de la Vallina, Betty Mendoza Maria Rosa Mognaschi to mention a few and the Milongueros of Rosario, Argentina.

She attained her Diploma of Corporal Expression and Dance Professional and Teaching at the School of Dance, "Isabel Taboga" (2004) in Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina. Where she specialised in Body Awareness Techniques.

 

She then moved to Buenos Aires where she further studied Tango in Buenos Aires with Maestros Silvio Lavia, Miguel Angel Zotto, Gustavo & Giselle Naveira, Rodolfo Dinzel, and Luciana Valle.

 

Laura is a Choreographer who graduated with an MA in Choreography at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London, in 2016. She is also qualified as a Yoga and Pilates teacher in Argentina and England with more than 20 years of practice in both disciplines. She has also an extensive background in Performing Arts and Experimental Theatre.

 

In Buenos Aires, She has worked as a tango teacher at Escuela Argentina de Tango, Club Gricel, La Catedral del Tango, Tango Brujo School, and the Escuela Carlos Copello. She also performed in well-known milongas in Buenos Aires such as Salon Canning, CC Torquato Tasso, Portenio y Bailarin, Practica Villa Malcom, etc. Continuing her live performances (Tango and contemporary dance) at  Jueves Estreno directed by Julio Zurita, and other companies, such as auto-gestionated (with a group of professional friends) independent dance company called "Umeboshi Effect" performed in London in 2006. She has also performed with well-known Indio Benavente in special events like The Nights of the Open Museums and Madres de Plaza de Mayo events in Buenos Aires Argentina and She has performed also in dance film projects such as ZUM, directed by Sebastian Arce (2011).

 

Laura has worked and performed with internationally renowned Tango dancers: Demian Garcia, Thomas Poucet and Guillermo Torrens (dancer of Midnight Tango), Luis Bianchi, Tate Di Chiazza. In London she has worked and shared the stage with Amir Giles, Diego Calarco, David Espada, Damian Lobato, Ivan Arandia, Raquel Greenberg, Bianca Vrcan, to mention a few. 

 

She has further toured Latin America, Europe, and the USA, performing and teaching workshops at Tango Milongas and well-known International Tango Festivals such as Pakytango (Italy).

 

Laura lives in London, England.

 

She has taught workshops or ongoing classes at Dance Attic, Danceworks, Negracha Tango Club (as a resident teacher), Pavadita (as a resident teacher), etc. She also taught special workshops and performed at Festivals and Tango events around England and Europe.

 

Currently, She is regularly teaching at her LDA Tango Dance School which is based at The West Wimbledon Society Hall, in Raynes Park, Greater London, UK.
